Preheat oven to 200º C. Grease a baking tray.
Take castor sugar and butter in a mixing bowl and beat with an electric beater till light and fluffy.

Walnuts, chopped ½ cup
Salt to taste

How to Make Russian Tea Cakes (Stepwise Photos)

Method

Preheat oven to 200º C. Grease a baking tray.
Take castor sugar and butter in a mixing bowl and beat with an electric beater till light and fluffy.
Add vanilla essence, refined flour, walnuts and salt and knead into a dough.
Divide the dough into small equal portions and shape them into roundels. Place them in the baking tray.
Keep the tray in the preheated oven and bake for 10-12 minutes. Remove the tray from the oven and allow to cool.
Spread the castor sugar in a plate, roll the cakes in it and arrange them in a serving platter. Serve.
